THE CALEDONIAN CONCERT.
TO THE EDITOR. 'Srß.,—l tvas one of the many who attended the Caledonian Society’s concert tu Thursday evening. I paid my three nilliugs willingly, expecting to hear something good, as the talent was so very foreign, but to my surprise L found, as the concert proceeded, that nearly all the performers were but second rate amateurs, and some of the items, as sung, were not Jit to listen to. But my object in writing is to find out why, in the name of common sense, should the Society import vocalists from Dunedin when they could get far better served in either Timaru or Ashburton, and I think quite as well served in Temuka t If the Society will insist on having a concert, lot it be worth the money. People do not care to pay the prices charged and be compelled to listen to an indifferent rendering of good music.—l have, otc., A Lover of Music. Tomuka, Doc. 27, IbDu.
