STODDART’S TEAM V. ALL ENGLAND. London, Sept. 9. The cricket match between the English Eleven and Stoddart’s Eleven began to-day. The latter batted first and scored 217 runs, and the English team had lost 4 wickets for 49 runs when stumps were drawn for the day. The following are the scores : Stoddart’s Eleven— lst Innings. Ward, 29 ; Brockwell, 29 ; Stoddart 55 ; McLaren, 0; Brown, 24 ; Peel, 49; Ford, 1; Lockwood, 3 ; Briggs, 4 ; Phillipson, not out, 0 ; Richardson, 12 ; Extras, 11. Total 217. England —lst Innings. Dr Grace, 0 ; Davidson, 3; Abel, 15 ; Shrewsbury, 12; Lilly, not out, 17; W. W. Read, not out, 2. Total, 59 In Stoddart’s innings Woods took 5 wickets for 75, and Mold 5 for 88.
