London, May 2. A report from from New York represents the state of affairs iu Nicaragua as critical, the Nicaraguans having threatened to attack the British residents. The guard has been increased by a further number of sailors from the warships. Great Britain will accept the guarantee of San Salvador to pay the indemnity due by Nicaragua within a fortnight if the latter confirms the payment.
