DISASTROUS EXPLOSION.
Perth, Jan. 8, Further particular's concerning the dynamite explosion at Frccmautle on the sth. inst., show that 5221 b exploded. Great damage was done to property in Freemantle, apart from the havoc to the sheds. An eyewitness, describing the explosion, states that a huge tongue of flame surmounted by a ball of fire resembling a meteor shot into the air for a distance of about 200 ft, aud was visible for 14 miles. The upshot of flame was observed on board the steamer Adelaide, which was approaching Rottene9t. At Rockingham, 13 miles away, the shock was felt, and at Claremont many persons were aroused from bed. It is not yst ascertained how tUe explosion occurred, but there is evidence that the priming shed was uot fired by accident.
