The chairman requested, on behalf of the Church of England, the use of the small park for the annual parish gathering.—Granted. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : From Mr G. H. Patrick, offering 6s per acre for a small quantity of cocksfoot growing in the Bush Park near Messrs Williams & Son's.—Accepted. From the Colonial Treasurer, enclosing forms to be filled in for statement of accounts. —Schedule to be filled up. SWIMMING BATHS. A petition signed by 53 of the principal ratepayers and residents iu the town was received, asking that public baths be eatablished in the domain. Mr R. H. Pearpoiut waited on the board ou behalf of the petitioners to explain the matter. All that was asked for was that the Domain Board would take charge of the matter and help in excavating to a larger extent thau at the present time. Those concerned would then solicit the public for subscriptions to erect fences and a shed. The idea originated with the junior cricketers, who recently visited Ashburtou, and were so delighted with the baths there that they at once took steps to get up the petition. Half the excavating, he pointed out, was already done, and ■i small expenditure would finish it. He (Mr Pearpoiut) had spoken to the throt local gardeners who had agreed to supply trees gratis for planting near the baths The spot selected was a capital one, away from the public road, while the bathing done at the present time in the river iu view of the public was vory objectionable

On the motion of Mr Ward it was resolved—" That the board will assist the petitioners in their action re swimming baths." On the motion of Mr Mashn it was decided that the whole board meet on Thursday afternoon to visit the spot. PAY SHKKT. The pay sheet amounted to £1 Os 3d. The board then rose.
