UNITED V. TEMUKA. This cup match was played at Temuka on Thursday afternoon. The weather was very cold and dull. The United won the toss, and went in to bat, but were all disposed of for 49 runs, Stoddart (38) being the only one to get into double figures. Time was then called for afternoon tea, which was very kindly provided by Mrs J. S. Hayes. Temuka then went in to bat, but were all disposed of for the small total of 39, Hawkes (15) and Ferguson (8) being the chief scorers. Mclntosh and King took most of the wickets for the United, and Low and Wills were the most successful for Temuka. The United team then commenced their second innings, and made 51, Price (15) and Rapsey (12) getting into double figures. Temuka then went in, and played out time, without the loss of a wicket, Ferguson making 9 and Gillespie 4. Daring the second innings Dann, the Temuka skipper, was knocked out by colliding heavily with a United batsman, and had to retire from the field. The fielding of the Temuka team was anything but up to the mark, and they will have to do more practice if they wish to win matches. The following are the scores: —
