TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the above board was held last night. PresentMessrs G. J. Mason (chairman),?. Coira, M. Soannell, and R. B, Comer. CORRESPONDENCE. Corespondence was read and dealt with as follows ; From Messrs Clinch & Lloyd, applying for a building license.—Granted. From Mr E. B. Amyes, notifying his appointment as valuer for Tomuka Town Diatriot, aud asking for access to' the hoards rolls, etc. — Permission givou. I the Government asking that no redaction be made in the cost of railage of frozen mutton, etc, It bad been agreed that copies of the same be seat to the several local bodies for signature, etc.—The board directed the clerk to get the same signed and other information forwarded. From several founders, relative to prioes of fire-bells. From the captain of the fire brigade, stating that the use of the grass in the section had been let, and asking that the lessee be given access to same. The board, on the motion of Mr SeanneU, acceded to the request,. ovbbseeb's bipobt. The overseer's report was to the following effect:— The instructions given at last meeting relative to trimming of overhanging trees and fenoes had' been attended to with partial success. He was now at liberty to enforce same. The asphalting was about half completed. The contractor was on behalf of private owners putting down extra - strong crossings. BE FIBB-BBLL. Some conversation took place as to the erection of a secondary fire-bell, and it was arranged that the clerk make further enquiries as to the cost of the bell and its erection. LAMPS. Mr Scannell drew attention to the inutility of the lamp in the Main street near Mr Harrison's. It was absolutely useless as a means of lighting the footpath. Mr Comer urged the necessity of a lamp nearer the Belt. There was none . . higher up than Ewen road. The chairman and Mr Ooira said the , v main object of the lamp at Mr Harrison's r? . was to illuminate Commeroe street. It " could not well be dispensed with. After discussion, Mr Comer moved that a lamp be erected at North Town Belt on the Main Road, and the lamp at Mr Harrison's be altered so as to make it more valuable. Seconded by Mr Scannell, and carried. The clerk was instructed to notify Mr J. Brown that the verandah posts left in front of bis old buildings must be promptly removed. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £29 17s Id were '.pavied for payment, and the meeting terminated.
