AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Arowhenua Town Board was held last Thursday evening in the town board office. Present—Messrs J. Ashwell E, Carr, and A. Russell. CJKRESPONDBVCK. Correspondence was read as follows: From Mr E. Lee and Mr J. M. Twomey, applying for removal of former’s nanje and substitution of latter’s name on rate roll fqr septions fronting Wilkin and High Streets, —Already attend d to by clerk. From Mrs E. Lee and Mr R. Taylor, a similar application re section 248. Clerk had attended to same. From Mr C. J. From Temuka Road Board, endoaing account for 6s, the Arowhenua Town Board’s share of expense incurred in canvassing district for signatures against the severance of the Levels District from the Geraldine County.—Passed. From Mr F. B. Flatmau, M.H.R., covering copy of “ Local Bodies Loan Amendment Act.” overseer's report. The overseer reported that, as instructed, he had searched the minutebook for the pledges the town board were under to the Temuka Fire Brigade, and had found same. Mr Carr said he had a matter to bring before the board. Requests had been made to him for the formation of two crossing over creeks—one at Mr Douglas’s, and one at Mr Webb’s. He brought the matter forward as representative of the ratepayers in that locality. He wished to give notice that he would move in that direction at next meeting. After some discussion the overseer was instructed to inspect the places and report at next meeting. THE BOARD AND THI FIRE BRIGADE. The correspondence which took place between the Temuka Fire Brigade and the Arowhenua Town Board some six years ago was next read. Amongst other things the fire brigade made application for wells, but on account of the financial position of the board not warranting it at the time, further steps were deferred. With reference to the pledges of the board to the brigade, the board is liable for all expenses incurred by the brigade at any fire that nray occur. This being all the business the meeting terminated.
