THE COREAN TROUBLE.
Shanghai, Oct. 16. The report of the rebellion in China is confirmed. The first rising took place 100 miles from Hangkow. The rebels killed two mandarins and several soldiers. The Emperor of China does not approve of the proposals for peace, but the Empress Dowager is in favor of them. Oct. 16. The Feiyang squadron is ready for sea. The Imperial edict issued at Pekin accepting full responsibility for the protection for foreigners is denied. The Chinese have made proposals for peace. London, Oct. 14. The United States and Germany refuse to join the other Powers in friendly intervention between China and Japan. Oct. 16. The Times says that not a single Power is willing to adopt Lord Rosebery’s proposal to impose peace on China and Japan,
