A public meeting of persons interested in establishing a trotting club was held last evening in the Star Hotel, Temuka. There was a fair attendance, Mr Angland being in the chair.

Mr Seannell seconded the motion, and ii was carried.
A rather lengthy conversation took place as to the advisability of forming a committee to canvass for subscribers. Mr Grant moved— " That a committee, consisting of Messrs Suannell, Angland, Naughton, Gaffaney, Fitzgerald, Trelford, and Rothwell, be appointed to canvass the district, and draw up a programme." The motion was agreed to. It was suggested that the races be held on the 16th of December, but the matter was left over until next meeting. On the motion of Mr J. Quinn, seconded by Mr E. Trelford, it was decided to call the club the " Temuka Trotting Club."
It was also decided to hold another meeting on Tuesday evening next to pass the programme, elect officers, &c. The meeting terminated with the usual vote of thanks to the chairman.
