CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS, The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association of Canterbury, Limited, report for the week ending June 22ad, 1894, as follows: — A modorato amount of business has been passing in grain and produce during the week. A large line of wheat has been placed on the market, which has had the effect of checking the upward movement, bnt as advices from Australia report a higher market there, the check is probably only temporary. Oats have been in better demand, but this seems now to have been supplied and the market is quieter. Beaus are without animation. Blue Prussian peas of prime quality arc asked for. Ryegrass and cocksfoot are firm but without much business doing. Potatoes were in keen demand for shipment this week, but for forward delivery sro very weak. Kidneys are firm at last quotations. Dairy produce is brisk owing to shorter supplies coming forward. Present quotations, f.o.b, Lyttelton, sacks extra: — Wheat New crop, pearl or velvet, 2a 6d; tuscan, 2s sd; hunters, 2s 4d; old, 2d per bushel extra. Oats —Milling Canadians, ls7d; short feed, Is 6d; duns, Is 6d to Is 7d; danish, Is sd. Barley—Prime malting, 3s 8d to 4s; medium, 3s to 3s fld; inferior, 2s to 2s Bd. - Peas—Blue, 2s 6d to 2s 9d; partridge, 2s 6d. Beans —2s sd. Potatoes —25 s 26a at country stations ; kidneys, 60s to 80s. Ryegrass Old pasture machinedressed, 4s 3d; ordinary, 3s 9d to 4a; farmers’ samples, 2s 6d to 3s. Cocksfoot —Machine-dressed, 5d to sjd ; ordinaiy, 3jd to 4jd. Red Clover and Cowgress, 5d to 6d. Cheese—Large, 4d; loaf, 4fu, Butter—Prime fresh, 9d; salt, 6dto 7d. Bacon and Hams—Bd. Oaten Sheaf Chaff—6os f.0.b., sacks included. CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKET. At the Addington Yards on Wednesday entries in most classes were small, but business in the sheep classes showed more animation than has been the case of late. Fat Cattle—A medium yarding of fat cattle mot with little competition, and the quality not being up to the standard of butchers’ requirements a slight drop in prices was recorded. Steers £6 to £Bl2s 6d, iieifers £5 15s to £7 17s 6d, cows £4l3s Gd to £7 17s 6d. Dairy Cattle —There was a large entry of dairy cows and springers, mostly of second and inferior quality, but only the best found buyers. Really good milkers appears to be in demand. Store Cattle —ln store cattle the market was represented by a few pens of young <aittle, for which there was but little demand.
Fat Sheep—About 2000 fat sheep were penned. Heavy sorts and prime freezers iully sustained late rates, and the better quality of crossbred ewes aold at a slight advance. Inferior sorts, both crossbreds and merinos, wore neglected. Crossbreds, prime heavy weights, 15s to 17s Gd, feezing quality 13s Gd to 15s, secondary sorts 9a°io 13s, boat crossbred ewes 12s to 13s 3d secondary Gs to 10s, best merino wethers 7s Gd to Us Cd, secondary fls Gd to 7s merino 5s to Gs lid. Store Sheep —In store sheep there was a small entry, mainly mixed 2-tooths and a law pens of nice crossbred ewes. A healthier demand was shown for best sorts, prices for which m-c quite Is per head. Mixed crossbred 2-tooth* Jls to 12s, crossbred brooding ewes 8s to Bs Cd, crossbred lambs G* to Gs lOd. Pig H _An e itry of 278 met with a dragging sale, and a drop of about a Jd *r lb.
