The stock conversion trust is promoting a scheme to convert the deposit receipts of the reconstructed banks into marketable stock by means of a trust company, Brussels, Juno 17. At the Antwerp wool sales 9000 bales were offered, of which 3000 bales wore sold including 400 bales of Australian consignments. The prices realised for River Plate wool were on a par with prices at the February sales, and Australian brought prices equal to the rates obtained at the last London series. Buda Pestii, June 18. Owing to wet and cold it is expected that the Hungarian wheat yield will be 20 per cent below the average. Sydney, June 18. MrQuong Tart, the well-known Sydney tea merchant, who is at present visiting China, has taken measures to inaugurate a Wool Importing Company. Hong Kong papers say that the venture must succeed, as the field open for operations is a groat one. The demand in Southern China will be almost limitless when the people realise that woollen goods are superior to tiie cotton article. Melbourne, June 19. The Treasurer has proposed a scheme for the conversion of the Victorian debt amounting to £48,000,000 into 3 per cent, intermediate consols. Ho roughly estimates that £0,000,000 would have to bo given to debenture-holders to induce them to accept 3 por cents. The net saving of the debt converted will bo £280,000 per annum. Nothing can bo clone until the 3i per cents, reach par, which the treasurer expects they soon will do.
