London, June 18. At & meeting in Hamilton, Scotland, at which 10,000 miners were represented, it was resolved that the men go out on strike next week. Brisbane, June 19. In couuectiou with the shearing difficulty the secretary of the Labour Federation states that although a letter is alleged to have been sent by the Pastoralists Union, offering to meet the representatives of the men at a conference, no such letter has been received, and the pastoralists are now making an attempt to shear under an agreement in regard to which a conference was supposed to be pending. At a meeting at Woodville on Saturday night to consider the unemployed question, resolutions were passed asking the Government to open up relief works daring thd winter months; that a cooperative bush felling scheme be introduced iu the district; that steps be taken to acquire some of the large estates iu the southern portion of Hawkes’ Bay for setlements and small farms to absorb a portion of the unemployed population. The names of 30 men were handed iu as being unable to obtain work. The shelter shed, meals, etc., at Wellington, to the the unemployed have been costing £2B 13s 4d a week, and the men are still coming in daily.
