London, May 3. The dock labourers are resuming their agitation, and serious trouble threatens. Washington, May 5. The Coxeyite baud at Tacoma have seized a train. One hundred marshals followed and eventually recaptured it. The wives of the strikers at Scottvale tried to intimidate the firemen. The police were called out and fired in the air. The strikers intervened and a desperate fight took place. Fifteen of the strikers and one woman wore shot. The police were repulsed but rallied, and arrested many of the rioters. Sydney, May 4. The Board of Directions of the Greta colliery, Sydney, have decided to shut down and only retain a sufficient staff to keep the mine dry unless the men accept rates which will enable the property to be worked at a profit. ■ May 5. A manifesto has been issued to Shearers, Unions throughout the colony, urging the men to decline to make any arrangements, except on the terms ruling during the past three years. The Auckland Gum-diggers’ Union approve of the Government plan for settling diggers and others on Crown lands between Kauhu Valley and Kokianga. The Wellington Labor Bureau notify that persons giving false information to the Department will be prosecuted for obtaining money on false pretences. 'i At Welliugton on Saturday morniu g a deputation, who said that they represented fifty unemployed single men, tried to get an interview with the Minister of Labor and the Premier, but failed. The Premier was too busy, and the Minister of Labor referred the deputation to Mr Tregar, who happened to be away. The men said they must have work. They intend to wait on the Minsters again on Monday, The Mayor of Christchurch has opened a subscription list to raise funds to provide work for the unemployed during the winter.
