GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Geraldine Town Board was held on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs A. White (chairman), J. M. Sutherland, J. Williams, and R. Y. Ferguson. CORRESPONDENCE. From the Timaru Borough Council, enclosing a resolution framed by the council on the 9th April, viz. :—" That the clerk write to the Geraldine Town Board, notifying them that if the amount in dispute re Mr Mundell's fee for auctioneering be not paid into the borough fund at the Bank of New Zealand within one week after the board's next meeting, the borough solicitor be instructed to take steps to recover the amount."—Letter to be acknowledged; cannot accede to request. TENDERS. Resolved—•' That tenders be invited for lease of the market reserve for 21 years if the board have the power to do so, also that tenders be called for lease for 21 years of four other sections." , Resolved—" That tenders be called for the position of lamplighter." overseer's report. The overseer's report was read on work done. Resolved —" That the works committee be empowered to put down 6 inch pipes along the market yards in Pine street as far as necessary to take away the flow of water, and that the work be done by day labour." PAY SHEET. The pay sheet amounted to £l7 Is. The board then rose. GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD. The above board met on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs A. White (chairman), J. Williams, R. Y, Ferguson, and J. M. Sutherland. TENDERS. Tenders were received for work as under :
No. 1 contract—William Gaby, £l7 10s; Lord& Kennington, £l4 12s; R. Richards, £l4 10a; Jas. Rennie, £1 per chain; W. Gager, £l4 7s; John Hay, £l3 10a (accepted). No. 2 contract—Wm. Gabey, £l6 10s ; W. Gager, £l2 10a; R. Richards, £l2 sa; Lord & Kennington, £l2 ; H. Morrison, £l2.—The two lowest tenders being equal, lots were drawn, the lot falling to Lord & Kennington, whose tender was accepted. No. 3 contract —M. Burridge & Co., £7 ; Wm. Gabey, £6 ; Joseph Dickens, £6; L. Coogan, £4lss; R. Richards, £3 ss; W. Gager, £3 3s; Lord & Kennington, £3. —W. Gager's tender was accepted. Tenders were received from John Pye and Mark Coombs respectively for a supply of trees and planting same. As both tenders were about equal in amount for the various varieties of trees, it - was decided that the tender be let coe jointly to the two tenderers, and the wo~ks committee select the kinds and quantity of trees required. TROTTING CLUB. A letter was received frdm the Geraldine Trotting Club, asking formal leave to form a trotting track on the domain. The club had already agreed with the lessee of the domain, and made a track. The club also asked permission to charge for admission to the domain on May 24th, the day of the clubs meeting. No licensing booth would be allowed on the ground.—Requests granted. GORSE AT BUSH PARK. The works committee agreed to inspect gorse at Bush Park that requires attention and report on same. The Board then rose.
