CORRESPONDENCE.
SULPHUR AND THE CALIFORNIAN THISTLE. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —To those who, like myself, droad the invasion of the Californian thistle, which seems destined, if not oilertually opposed to devastate the land by supplanting the genorouss products of the soil, ami drive its impoverished owners to “ seek fresh holds and pastures new ” in the remote realms of Faragu iy or elsewhere, any positive information that yon can furnish through the medium of your instructive paper as to the reported eilicacy of sulphur in destroying this noxious weed will bo a great boon. Js this reputed antidote as reliable as
Warner’s Safe Cure, or, like Beecham’s Pills, “the right thing in the right place?” Is its extirpative power thoroughly proved and established, or is it only on its trial ? In these dull times we cannot afford to throw away our money on mere experiments. We should therefore like to know the real facts about this sulphur cure: from yourself if you are in a position to give them, or from any of your numerous contributors and by doing so you will greatly oblige, along with many others, yours, eta., J. M. N AUGHTON. Smithfield, April 6th, 1894.
