CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKET. At the Addington Yards on Wednesday the attendance was good, and the entries in the sheep classes very large. Fat Cattle —145 head were yarded, mostly light weight cow and heifer beef. Steers sold at £6 7s 6d to £9 10s, heifers £5 5s to £7 10s, cows £5 to £8 10s, beef brought 22s to 23s 6d per 1001 b. Store Cattle —In store cattle there was a medium entry, including a number of inferior young stock and old cows. Weauers and yearlings were quitted at 18s to 355, 18-months-old £1 17s 6d to £2 2s 6d, dry cows £2 10s to £4 10s, good dairy cows £6 to £9loa, inferior £3 to £5. Fat Sheep—About 4000 fat sheep were penned, the bulk of the entry crossbred ewes and merinos. Best crossbred freezers were the only class which held their own. For ewes there was a drop of Is to Is 6d. Best crossbred wethers sold at 12s to 15s 3d, secondary 8s 6d to 10s, best crossbred ewes 10s 6d to 12s, secondary 7s to 8s 6d, merino wethers 7s to 9s 6d, secondary 4s 6d to 6s. Fat Lambs—ln fat lambs about 2000 came fortvard. The lambs fit for export sold at last week’s rates, but the prices for half finished and inferior were Is to Is 6d lower. Prime sold at 10s to 11s 6d, and secondary 5s 6d to 7s 6d. Store Sheep-r-In store sheep quite 8000 were yarded. Two-toothed mixed-cross-breds sold at 7s 6d to 11s, young crossbred breeding ewes 8s 6d to 12s 6d, crossbred wethers 6s to 8s 9d, crossbred lambs 2s 9d to 8s 6d, merino wethers 2s 6d to ss, merino ewes Is 6d to 6s 6d. Pigs—A medium entry met with keen competition at last week’s rates. DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS.

The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday : Wheat—Prime tuacan up to 2a lOd ; pearl velvet, 2s 9d; medium to good qualities, 2a 7d to 2a Bjd (several new samples have been to hand from the north, but none of prime quality) ; fowls’ wheat wanted, 2s 6d to 2s 7d. All good to prime samples will find buyers at quotations. Oats Market has slightly receded. Prime milling and feed, Is 9d to la 10d ; medium to good. Is 7d to Is Bd. Samples from the north are coming to hand at la 8d for prime quality. Barley—New samples are to hand. Cape, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; northern stations and chevalier, 3s 8d 4s 2d. Potatoes—Supplies very short. Kidneys, £3 5s to £3lss; derweuts have inquiry, £4 to £4 10s. Chaff —Good prime well-cut oaten sheaf, up to £3 10s is obtainable, if old sheaves. Pigs—Prime quality and suitable sizes, would sell readily at 4d to 4jd. Salt Butter—No demand for shipment, and local sales very small. Good quality, 6d to 6Jd. Cheese —Prime factory (medium sizes), 4|d ; loaf, 5d per lb; Akaroa (large sizes), 4Jd to 4£d; loaf, 4f d. Bacon —Scarce, 6fd to 7Jd for rolls ; hams, 8d to B|d. Onions, 6s 6d to 7s fid per cwt. Honey—(Extracted), 3|d to 4|d. Ryegrass—For farmers’ best dressed 2s fid to 2s 8d; extra good, 2s 9d; extra good, 2s 9d ; medium to good, is 8d to 2s 4d ; machine-dressed, 3s 3d to 4s 3d. Cocksfoot—4d to 4fd f.o.b. Lyttelton. Prime heavy machine, 5d and above.

Sheepskins—At auction on Tuesday country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, brought Is lOd to 3s Id ; do do merino, Is 7d to 2s 2d ; medium to fullivoolled crossbreds, 3s 3d to 4s 8d ; best, 4s 9d to 5s 4d; extra heavy, 6s 6d to 5s lid ; full-woolled merinos—good, 2s 3d to 3s 7d; best, 3s 8d to 4s 5d ; dry pelts, 2d to Is 5d ; green crossbred pelts—best, Is 9d to 2'a 3d; for special purposes, 3d to 6d more; medium to good, Is 5d to Is 8d; green lambskins best, 2s to 2s 4d; medium to good, Is 5d to Is lid each. Hides—Market unchanged. Quotations are, say: For well saved ox hides, 601 b •nd over, 2£d to 3d; medium, l£d to 2d; inferior and light, Id to IJd per lb. Tallow—Demand brisk. Quotations ; For beat mutton, 21s to 22s 6d; medium to good, 18s to 20s 6d; inferior to medium, 14s to 17s 6d; best mutton caul fat, 14s to 14s 6d; medium to good, 12s 6d to 13s 9d; inferior to medium, 11s to 12s 3d per cwt (ex store). DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Market op Wednesday the following business was transacted:— Fat Cattle were in small supply, 95 head being yarded. As the sale progressed values eased fully 10s per head. Best bullocks brought £9 12s Od to £11; medium to good, £8 5s to £9 7s 6d; light, £G 17s Gd to £7 17s Gd; best cows, £8 10s to £9 2s Gd ; medium to good, £6 to £7 17s Gd; light and aged, £3 10s to m 17s Gd.

Fpt Sheep—l 664 penned, of which 250 were merjup. Tlte supply of ewes was altogether beyond the 4cmq,nd, and low prices, more especially towards the end of the sale, had to be accepted to quit consignments. Best crossbred wethers brought 13s to 13s 9d ; medium to good, 10s to 12s 6d ; best crossbred ewes, 10s 9d to 12s Od; medium to good, 7s 6d to 9a 9d; merino wethers, 5s to 11s 9d. Lambs—ss6 were penned. There was a fairly good demand at slightly lower prices than those ruling last week. Best brought 9s to 11s 3d ; others, 5s 9d to 8s 9d. Pigs—.sß were pemmd, mostly small aoj?ts. Slickers brought JJs to Rjs Qd; slips, 15s to 18s f porkers, 28s to 33a; baconers, 38s to 42; two or three estra heavy, 62a.

London, March 6. The estimated visible supply of American wheat is 93,900,000. March 7. Sir A. Clark has been informed that it would be a mistake to change the centre of distribution of colonial butter, as the result would mean a decrease in price to producers. The Australian and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company have declared a further dividend of 2£ per cent. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,076,000 quarters, and for the Continent 828,900 quarters. A March shipment of Australian wheat has been sold at 25s 6d. At the wool sales lower grades are dull, but there is good competition for medium sorts. The market shows signs of improvement, and a better tone is exhibited. The imports fpr last month showed an increase of £4,200,000, and the exports an increase Of £600,000. The wool sales were brisk and prices firm, and for medium sorts slightly improved.
