GERALDINE SUSPENSION BRIDGE.
TO TUE EDITOR. Sir, —In your paper there has beeu an advertisemeut offering £2O reward to anyone finding out who cut the wires of the suspension bridge at Geraldine. It was u most peculiar proceeding to offer this reward, as it is a well-known fact in Geraldine that the wires were not cut at all, but that they simply wore through owing to people swinging on the bridge. The offering of the reward seems to bo a sort of “ blind ” to outsiders to make them think it was not the fault of the designer of the bridge that the wires broke. To repair the bridge, wire of a far better quality was used. This fact shows that even the people who say the wire was cut, were not prepared to try the same kind again. I think the Road Board or Town Board should see into this matter, and not allow ratepayers to be bluffed in this manner. Just above the bridge there is a breakwater (I), which everyone should have a good look at, to see how public money is spent. —I am, etc., Ratepayer. Geraldine, Feb. 10, 18)1.
