CRICKET.

The match between Temuka and Timaru which was played at Temuka on Thursday, attracted a fair attendanoe, although the teams on each side were hardly representative. The pitch was in good order, but on the whole favorable to bowlerd. The game was by no means an interesting one, there being a decided lack of "go " about it. The fielding on both sides was quite up to the average, and the bowling all round good, bnt the batting was decidedly weak. In the first innings, Temuka fairly collapsed, the only man to make a stand being Heap who put up six out of the total of 14, to which Brown and McLean contributed 3 each. In the second innings Ferguson, not out, made 10 the only man of the team to get into double figures. For Timarn Jefferson made 17 out of a total score for one innings of 84, towards which Fraser contributed a 15 by careful play, and Hassell, not out, a rather flukey thirteen. Gus Jones put together eleven by steady play and looked good enough for more when he was smartly caught by Dignan off his (Dignan's) own bowling. For Timaru Wicksteed and Mcintosh bowled well, and for Temuka Dignan and Brosnahan did most of the trundling. Goldstone, who went on late in the innings, secured WickBtead's wicket in his first over. The following are the scores: —
