CHRISTCHURCH MARKET REPORTS.
Messrs H. Matson & Co, (associated with the National M. & A. Company of N.Z., Limited) report for the week ending Nov. 27,1893 :—-The showers of rain that have fallen during the week have had a most beneficial effect on the crops and pasture, and tho country generally is looking extremely well for this time of the year. With a plentiful supply of feed and the prospects of a bountiful harvest, farmers should have a successful season before them, given fair prices. Wheat. —The market remains in a state of stagnation, and the only little business doing is confined to the local mills. Holders are placed in a very awkward position, for grain freights are firm and scarce as against a dull market at Home. I)ocaJly prices are 2s 6d to 2s fid. (TPs. A quiejj but gteady trade is passing at 2s 2s 3d, and we fancy prices will hold up until the new crop is harvested. The Home market keeps firm for good heavy oats at 27s fid to 29s per quarter. Barley —There is absolutely nothing doing. Tho nevy grain yyijl goino in to a bare iparket. Potgipes.—Tfie qutsidp UFO all about plosedj and transactions are now fop loyal requirements. Stocks are almost out, the price being £() per t »n. Grass seeds fll’9 without enquiry, and prices remain the same as last w °°k 8 - jjairy Produce. —Butter, 7d to ?‘l ; .cheesp, ifl to 4£d. Quotations are f.0.b., flasks extra.
