RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
ThjMUka—Tuesday, October 24th. [Before C. A. Wray, Esq., R.M.,] CIVIL CASES. J. Brown v. W. Duncan. Mr Salmond for plaintiff'. Adjourned for 14 days, McLeod v. Vivian Taylor. Adjourned for a fortnight by consent. T.Mulheru v. P. O’Mara, Claim £G Qs Ud for wages.
Plaintiff stated he worked 5 weeks at 6s per day. Twelve shillings per week was to be paid for board. By defendant Received 6s 6d in cash, 5 sticks tobacco value 4s 2d. Remembered 3 wet days. Worked part of the 14th September, about half a day. Did not work on the 15th. Worked part of the 17th, about 3 hours. Did not work on the 12th October. Defendant claimed that he was entitled to charge a day in lieu of notice. Judgment for plaintiff for £4 8s 4d with costs. James Grant vD. Chateris. Claim £l2 13s 6d. Defendant put in a set off. His Worship went through the items in the account, and gave judgment for plaintiff for £1 12s with costs, less £1 6s 8d paid into court. The court then rose.
