AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

At the conclusion of the general busiuosf on Wednesday evening the board resolved itself into a Domain Board. Mr E. Brown was voted to the chair. The clerk read extracts from the Domains Act 1881, and correspondence with the Government relative to the vesting of the control of the garden reiervei iu the board, and also produced plans of same.

After some little discussion it was decided that the reserves be let in accordance with applications previously received, subject to the fulfilment of conditions then notified.

Mr J. Cain applied for a lease of the reserve granted to Mr A. Colville, numbered 9 on original plan, he having taken the house lately occupied by him. Mr Colville signified his consent to the the transfer, which was granted.

The clerk was instructed to calculate areas of reserves, and have leases ready for signature by November Ist; also to notify that in no case will willow, poplar, or green stakes be permitted to be used in fencing.

It was decided to grant the leases as from the Ist November, all rents to be payable half-yearly in advance as previously arranged.

The clerk was authorised to have leases printed at a cost quoted. The clerk reported that Mr Pulford desired to lease a portion of reserve abutting his premises, already granted to Mr P. Coira, the only applicant. The board offered no objection to Mr Pulford arranging with Mr Coira. The clerk was authorised to procure a minute book, cash book, and stationery required and to convene a special meeting prior to November Ist if occasion arose. It was explained that all revenue derived would have to be kept separate from the town board general account, as" under the Act such revenue would be applied ultimately to plantation and recreation purposes.

In reply to a question, the clerk stated that the accounts in conrectiou with the domain would be made up to the 31st December and not to 31st March.

Some general details were discussed and the meeting terminated.
