SHEARERS' ELECTORAL RIGHTS
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —As so many shearers are of the opiuion that they merely have to register their names, and on election day they will be in a position to forward their votes to the electorates for which they may be regis! ered, would you allow me to point out that it is necessary that electoral rights certificates should at once be obtaiued from the various registrars of electors. These certificates must be taken up country with them, and when the writs for the election are out this will give shearers about three weeks in which to visit a post-office in any locality, then produce certificates and sign affidavits, after which votes so recorded will be forwarded to the right constituencies. Trusting, therefore, that shearers will at onoe attend to the matter required, I am, etc.," J. O'Bkibn. Waimate, October 13th.
