WINCHESTER NOTES.
Since the franchise has been extended to women not many have taken adventage of it to have their names placed on the Electoral Roll. Now that the ladies have a voice in the framing of our laws, it is only right they should take advantage of it, and help to promote the happiness of the country. It is plainly the duty of every woman to vote, and by neglecting to do so she throws away the chauce of using her influence towards benefiting the community at large. In St. John's Church at Winchester on Sunday week, the Rev. W. E. Gillamivad a letter from the Bishop of Christchurch advising the women to use the power thus conferred on them by God wisely. It is to be hoped the ladies. here will all have their names placed on the roll and intelligently support the candidate who will do the most towards promoting the welfare of New Zealand.—The social advertised for October sth took place in the Public Hall on that date. There was a very good attendance, all present enjoying themselves. Songs were given by several, and those by Messrs A. Opie aud H. Colville were much appreciated. The refreshment table was presided over by Mr W. Philp. Music was supplied by Mr H. Cnlville, which was all that could be desired, and dancing was kept up to a late hour.
