BICYCLE RACES.
Sydney, Sept. 9. At the New South Wales Champion Cycling Meeting to-day A. C. Wilmot, of the North Canterbury Club, Ilangiora, won the Five Mile Championship of Australasia. Sept. 10. There was a large attendance at the Bicycle Sports. The weather was showery but the course was fast. The following are the results. Half-Mile Handicap. Barbell ... ... ••• ”• J Griffiths Brown ••• ••• 3 Time —Imin 14 3-6ths sec. Wilmot, of New Zealand, put up a reord for this colony in his heat, Imin 12sec., but owing to his win in the Championship did not (start in the final. Five Mile Championship of Australia. Wilmot (New Zealand) 1 Kerr (Sydney) 2 Nickliu (Queensland) o Pither, of New Zealand, made the running for the first mile and a-half at a slow pace. At the end of the third mile Wilmot was in the van,and the pace warmed up. When the fourth mile was nearly completed, Hall, of New Zealand, took command, but only for a short space, Hodgkinson deposing him. Hayward, of New Zealand, was also riding a splendid race. At four and a-half miles Kerr made a strong dash to the front, but Hodgkinson cut him down. Kerr came again, but on entering the last lap.. Wilmot made his effort, and shot past Kerr, winning by five yards, amid great cheering. The winner fainted after passing the post. Time —15min 1 l/sth sec. One Mile Handicap, Harvey ... ••• ••• ••• ••• Robinson ... ••• ••• 2 Lockyer... 3 Time —2min 35 l/sth sec. Three Mile Handicap. Harvey (Sydney) 1 Hayward (New Zealand) 2 Adam (Queensland) 3 Hayward rode a nice race, and finished magnificently. Time —Bmin 15 l/oth sec.
