GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD.
The above board met on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs A. White (chairman), W, S. Maslin, J. M. Sutherland, B. Hammond, R. Y. Ferguson, R. Taylor, and J. Wißiams.. FALLEN TIMBER. Re the fallen timber in the Bush Park, the successful tenderer, Mr 0. Dean, waited on the board, asking that only half fee royalty be paid for “ seconds ” timber. —Agreed to. PUBLIC DOMAIN. Mr R, H. Pearpoint, on behalf of the Geraldine Cricket Club, waited on the board, asking (1) that the pavilion in the Public Domain be renovated and made secure with regard to locks, as at present the pavilion was a receptacle for every - thing in general, and was a disgrace to the town; (2) that the well on the oval should be covered, as at present it was dangerous; (3) that a fence be run from the entrance gate to the pavilion, and a shingle path made. Mr Pearpoint, as leassee of the park, said he was prepared to shift his fence to meet any fence the board might erect, so as to keep his horses and cattle from the ground near the entrance to the oval. Mr Pearpoint reminded the board that the park was for the use of the public, and also that the pavilion was erected mainly by the efforts of cricketers and not by the board. Resolved—“ That tenders be invited for painting and repairing the pavilion, and for the covering up of the well.” Resolved—“ That a shingle path be formed from the park entrance to the pavilion and fenced off, as suggested by Mr Pearpoint.” FIREWOOD. Resolved—“ Chat 10 cords of firewood in the small park be sold next sale day.” TREE PLANTING. The following tenders were received for planting 1000 trees in the Bush Park: — John Pye, £10; M. Coombs, £10; J. Chapman, £8 10s. The board thought that the lowest tender included too many blue gum trees, and it was resolved—- “ That Messrs Pye and Coombs’ tenders be accepted jointly, ff tenderers will amalgamate in the work ; if not, that preference be given to the largest ratepayer, Mr Coombs, and that a guarantee be given that treei will grow, or otherwise be replaced, and the minimum age of trees to be two years.” THE SMALL PARK. Mr W. S. Maslin suggested that the water-race in the small] park be u'ilised for the formation of an ornamental pond, but nothing definite was decided on the matter. The board then rose.
