MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Mount Peel Road Board was held at their office, Peel Forest, on Friday, 18 th August. Present—Messrs C. G. Tripp (in the chair), R. Thew, and G. J. Dennistoun, Correspondence was read— From the Audit Office, returning the balance-sheet certified as correct.

From the Geraldine County Council, asking the board to put on two men to lay poisoned grain in the district. From Mr J. Cook, offering to. dear all fallen trees from the plantation near Arundel.—The offer was accepted, and it was arranged that the clerk allow anyone to remove fallen timber from plantations, all waste and litter to be cleared off; but leave to do so must first be obtained from the clerk.

From Mr 0. Clark, asking the board to shingle a further portion of Turner’s road.—Deferred until noxt board day. Proposed by Mr Dennistoun, seconded by Mr Thew, and carried—“ Thai a rate of one half-pedny in the $. on all rateable property in thq Mount Peel Road District be struck, such rate to include Harbor B.qard Jd, Hospital and Charitable Aid Jd, and General Rate £d, for the year ending 31st March, 1894 ; such rate to be payable on Ist October, 1893,”
