f ; YDNJ3Y, August 17
In connection with the influx of Chinese into the Australian Colonies, the Premier has received the following telegram from Mr Kingston, Premier of South Australia ; —" If you consider your Aot sufficient will your kindly administer it accordingly. \i not., this affords an additional reason for requesting, which I feci boaiid respectfully to repeat, that New .South Wales will discharge a longst nding obligation to assimilate Ji«r Chinese legislation to that agreed to at the Sydney Conference." Mr Di'obs characterises the telegram aB impertinent from beginning to end, and not correct in fact. The New South Wales Act is the outcome of the Conference referred to, and is faithfully administered. Mr Kingston evidently desires to pick a quarrel, but he will not be accomodated.
Adelaide, August 17. The Premie 1 announced in the Legislative Assemby that owing to the laxity of administration of the Chinese Restriction Act by New South Wales, steps would be taken to prevent the influx of Chinese overland into this colony.
