Arrived—Alameda, K.M.S., from Sydney, and Mariposa, R.M.'S., from San Francisco. She made a smart voyage of 18 days 17 hours. Passengers —Mtssrs Hatton and Fish. She sails for Sydney at 6 p.m.

J. S. Shaw’s wool warehouse, Bradford, England, was burnt on July 2nd. The loss is £500,000.
An extraordinary story, which is said to have been the cause for tradesman effecting an insurance against the Royal wedding not taking place, is related in the American summary as follows. It is that between lour and five years ago George, Duke of York, was married by the Roman Catholic ritual to the daughter of a British naval officer of high rank, and that there are children by the marriage. It is told by a lady that one week before the marriage a letter received from Princess May was being shown abi ut in Court circles in which the Princess said to her titled lady correspondent that she knew all about the whole affair.
The German Emperor is delighted at the pasage of the Army Bill. A rumour has it that he will confer on Count Caprivi the dignityof prince. The Jews of Yalta, in the Crimea, refused to obey a decree to retire to their homes for several days. An Anti-Jewish mob broke into the houses occupied by the Jews. Troops were called out to restore order. None of the rioters were killed, but a few were injued. Pomeroy, in lowa, a town of 1000 inhabitants, was, on J uly Gth, struck by a cyclone, which swept away all the buildings and injured a largo number of people. The latest returns show 100 porous killed in (the town and 200 injured. Fonda and Manson also suffered. In Fonda five entire families were blown away and lost, as no trace has been found of them.
