AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

CORRESPONDENCE,

The monthly meeting of the above was held last night. Present —Messrs J. Ashwell (chairman), A. Russell, and E. Brown.

Correspondence was readFrom Mr A. Frew, applying for leave of absence from his seat on the board for three months, although he expected to be able to return shortly.—Leave granted. From Mrs Goodey and Mr o.'Robinson, relative to demands for rates, —The clerk to attend.

From the Crown Lands Office, under date August Ist, forwarding lithograph of the Arowhonua township, and enlarged tracing showing reserves which have been recently gazetted aa permanent reserves for garden purposes within the township. Attention was drawn to the fact that the vesting of the reserves in the board had not yet been gazetted. From the same, under date August sth, in reply to one of 20th June, and in connection with a report of the Crown ranger on the same subject. As the control of the reserves is at present vested in the Land Board, and not in the Arowhenua Town Board, the Commissioner requested that particulars be forwarded as to the manner in wliicl} it is proposed to lease the. paserves for the consideration of the Land Board. It was requested that terms of lease, name of loesee, rental, etc., be supplied. The Commissioner had communicated with the Government as to placing the reserves under the control of the board.

CREEK RESERVES

It was resolved that the clerk write fully to the Land Board in reply to their letter of August sth, and give them the names of persons whose application for the land had been granted, conditions of proposed leases, and all other information GORSK ON ROADS. It was resolved to inform Mr Eli Prattley that unless he clears the gorse from frontage on Murray street withy! 10 days, the work will be dqne at his c -st. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £7 10s » ere passed for payment, and th,§ TOeoting terminated.
