GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
The Geraldine Town Board met on Tuesday evening. Present —Messrs A. White (chairman), J. Williams, R Y. Ferguson, J. M. Sutherland, and R. Hammond. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was received and dealt with as below : From Mr Wm. Shiers, asking that his name be placed on the rate roll as occupier of the Geraldine Road Board premises.—Granted. From Bank of New Zealand, Geraldine, enclosing receipt for fixed deposit of £250. From the Land and Income Tax Department, enclosing farm of declaration to be filled up respecting Board'B subsidy. From Mr Thomas Reseigh requesting that the water be turned on again in the race on his side of the road as formerly, which he believed would be a boon to himself and others. —Shelved. From Mr H. B. Webster, asking permission to erect a building on his section for the Farmers' Club, also to extend the kerbing and ashphlalt in front of his premises, and to shift a culvert lower down.—Granted. From Mrs Esther Holloway, asking the Beard to place the- following names on the rate roll:—Mr John Farrell for pjemises occupied by Mr F. W. Worner and Mr G. Bethune ; Mr W. J. Turner for section No. 276 ; and Mr J. M. Keane for the Bush Hotel.—Granted. THE STREET LAMPS. The overser reported that three of the street lamps had been removed. Two of these lamps were not to be found, and one had been made a " cockshy" of, and broken to pieces. It was resolved that a reward of £5 be offered for a conviction of any person or persons known to have broken or removed these town street lamps. It was decided to purchase six new lamps. THE PAN SYSTEM. The town scavenger waited on the board, complaining that some people used kerosene tins as pans, and asked that they be compelled to use oil drums. The Inspector of Nuisances was instructed to see into the matter. OVERSEER'S REPORT. The overseer reported that the contractor for shingling the roads had finished his contract in a very satisfactory manner. The side of the waterrace on the west side of the road had been grubbed of grass, and it would be well to do the east side also. Resolved— <l That the east side of Talbot street be grubbed of grass." STRAY CATTLE. It was resolved that the Police Inspector be written to, asking him to instruct the local constable to assist the board in stopping the practice of allowing cattle to wander at Each offender to be summoned for every offence. ASPHALT CROSSINGS. Tender* for forming three asphalt crossings, in the town were received as follows: —P. Maloneyand James Crafer, 4s 7d per yard; W. G. Sherratt, 2s lid per superficial yard (accepted.) ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £23 18s 6d were passed for payment. The board then rose.
