FRENCH AFFAIRS.
Paris, June 26. The French hare occupied additional islands in the Gulf of Siam, and the French squadron is preparing to blockade Bangkok, the capital of Siam. The French commander reports thatthe islands in the Gulf of Siam, which have been occupied are of strategic importance, as they afford good anchorage and storage. The French failed to occupy the left bank of the Mekong. It is expected the gunboats will ascend the Meum, on which the capital is situated, and that the coast will be blockaded. The Europeans in Bangkok are getting excited.
The Cabinet have vetoed the Paris Council’s subsidies to the Labor Exchonge. It is officially announced that M. Ducrais succeeds M. Waddington as French Ambassador in London.
Norton has confessed to having forged the documents said to have been stolen from the British Embassy, but he says that he was instigated by Ducret, one of the Directors of Concorde. The latter, however, denies Norton’s statement, and declares that he had nothing to do with the forgeries.
