O R A R I.

A social in aid of the funds of the chool came off on Friday last. The evening was fine, and there was a very large attendance. The Committee made the arrangements, aud carried them out in such a manner that everything went smoothly and pleasantly. An a ..pie supply of refreshments was provided, and everyone seemed delighted with the evening's entertainment. Miss Meredith sang, with much feeling, "Somebody's waiting for me," and "The Maiden's Challenge. Miss Glanville gave « The Dear Little Shamrock." Mr Irwin sang " Eileen Alannah " and " I'll take you Home again, Kathleen," and Mr Glanville "'Tween Decks" and "The Rose, Thistle, and Shamrock." "The Minute Gun at Sea" was very effectively rendered by Miss Meredith and Mr Glanville. Mr Hall, a stranger to the district, sang a couple of sea songs with much pathos. Mr Loach and Mr McKay varied the entertainment, the former with some well-executed step dances, and the latter with an original comic recitation, "The Street Crier of London." Messrs Bmcefield and Richardson alternately acted as Master of the Ceremonies. The instrumentalists were Miss Meredith and Mr Glanville (pianoforte), Mr Glanville (violin), and Mr Behrens (accordian). At the close the thanks of the committee were tendered to those who had kindly and gratuitously contributed to the success of the gathering, and the company enthusiastically joined in expressing their appreciation of their services.
