PLEASANT POINT SPORTS.

The Library sports held at the Point on Thursday passed off very successfully. The inhabitants of the district mustered in great force, and towards the afternoon there were over three hundred people on the ground. The sports were held in a paddock kindly lent for the occasion by Mr Cook. The weather was delightful, and a most enjoyable day was spent. Everything passed off without a hitch. Mr Medlicot acted as judge for the horse racing, Messrs Raynor Bros, bandicappers, Mr Greig starter, while Mr acted as judge for the athletic events 21" Ofcufa made an efficient handicapper, and SZf well with the pistol, Mr F. MeuACOw was clerk of the course. The secretary, Mr George Morris, worked most indefatigably aud proved himself the right man in the right place. The sports committee deserre thanks for the manner in which they managed the games, and will no doubt have a substantial balance for the local library fund. A dance was held in the evening. The following Is the result of the various items : 100 Yards Maiden—Baxter 1, E. Stewart 2. Three entries. 100 Yards Handicap—Brosnahan (scr) 1, W. Stewart (3yds) 2. Eight entries. Quoits —Simpson 1, Stewart 2. 220 Yards (library members’ race) —■ Botherway (10yds) 1, W. Stewart (scr) 2. Four entries. Running Long Jump—Thornley 19ft lin (C) 1, Bryan 18ft 9in 2. 440 Yards Handicap—Brosnahan (scr) 1, Bryan 18ft 9in 2, Running High Leap—Thornley (Sin) sft sin 1, Bryan (scr) sft 2in 2. Three entries. There were no entries for the football tournament. Maiden Trot, 2 miles—Mr Fox’s Dolly 1, Mr Well’s Bertha 2. Three-quarter mile Flat —Mr Fox’s Limpy 1, Mr A. Young’s Bella 2. Handicap Time Trot, 2 miles—Mr Faden’s MaudY. 1, Mr Gould’s Zalinka 2. Welter Handicap, 1 mile—Mr Young’s Bella 1, Mr Tozer’s Trooper 2. The most popular win of the day. Handicap Time Trot, 3 miles--Mr Faden’s Maud V. 1, Mr Fox’s Dolly 2.
