THE DAVIES-MILLEDGE CASE
Melbourne, May 31. The Cabinet have decided that Davies and MaUedgo were wrong in leaving the colony whilst the case against them was pending, and steps will be taken to swear a fresh information if they do not return to Melbourne. Sir Bryan O’Loghlen, the Attorney-General, objected to this decision. June 1, The Cabinet have decided to take the Mercantile Bank cases out of the At-torney-General’s hands, and have instructed Mr Wynne, Postmaster-General, to issue warrants against Davies and Milledge. The outcome of the decision is that Sir ‘Bryan O’Loghlen threatens to resign from the Ministry. The Government have issued a warran* for the arrest o£ Sir M. Davies at Colombo. Adelaide, June 1. Sir Matthew Davies haa sailed for Colombo. The doctor certified that he was too ill to break the voyage, and that the case would prove fatal if the patient were landed. Just as the vessel sailed, the police authorities received instructions to detain Sir Matthew Davies, but it was too late to take action. Mr F. S. Milledge, who has reached here, eu mute to London, has decided to return to Melbourne.,
