GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Geraldine School Committee was held on Thursday evening. Present—Messrs W. H. Walton (chairman), J. W. Pye, T. Bowkett, Thomas Sherratt, C. E. Sherratt, J. Dean, and J. Gore. CORRESPONDENCE. , Correspondence was dealt with as under:— Prom the Education Board, stating that £9 2s 6d had been paid into committee’s account for incidentals. From the Geraldine Town Board, stating that 10s per quarter will be charged for the removal of nightsoil from the school. FUEL. Tenders were received from Messrs R. H. Pearpoiut and A, Sherratt for supplying fuel to the school. The tenders were drawn for by the chairman, the lot falling to Mr R. H. Pearpoiut. HEAD master’s REPORT. The head master’s report showed average attendance for present quarter : Boys 80.2, girls 91.2, total 171.4; week roll, 238; highest attendance on any half day, 207. This was considerably below the average required to maintain the usual grants from the board, and tlio head master hoped that the parents would send their children regularly for the rest of the quarter. The window blinds required repairing. Shingle was needed at the front gates, and the attention of the town board should be directed io the bad state of the road at the eastern entrance. REPAIRS. The matter of repairs to the school was left in the hands of the visiting committee to deal with. WET DAYS. It was resolved that the chairman, a member of the committee, and the head master be authorised to close the school at their discretion an wet days. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £1 were passed for payment. THE JANITORSHIP. The following tenders were received for the position of school janitor : —Mrs Sugrue, £2l 7s; Albert Hoikiags, £2O; M. Hansen, £l9 10s for school work and 2s 6d per cord for chopping wood ; Mrs King, £lB. Mrs King’s tender was accepted for 12 months. VISITING COMMITTEE. Messrs O. E. Sherratt and T. Bowkett were appointed visitors for the ensuing month. The meeting then ended.
