The overseer’s report was road and dealt with as follows : “ To the Chairman and Commissioners, Arowhenua Town Board,
“ Sirs, — I have the honor to report that since last meeting one man has been employed in repairing roads and patching. Owing to the wet weather but little progress has been made. The grass encroaching on the formation of part of Denmark street has been chipped off in oi der to drain the water from the wheel ruts, and these have been partially filled. me improvement has been made in W ilkin street near Mr McCaskill’s as and, some patching done iu
Studholmo street. If the weather continues fine the work can be pushed on. The cost of diverting the creek at Hornbrook street and putting a light dick bridge across would be about £ Although this would be better, perhaos, than making a ford, the traffic scarcely justifies the expenditure. Tenders hive been invited for cleaning water tables, and also for lease of garden reserves. These are ready for consideration. It will be necessary to shingle the half-chain road in Special Settlement, and Studholme street and the east end of Alexandra street also require attention. —I have, etc , “ Aiv. W.
