AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS.
The Canterbm/ Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association, Limited (per J. Mundell, auctioneer), repou on the horse market as follows : —At Tattersall’s, Timaru, on Saturday, owing to the continued heary rain, the entry was sma 11 and sales hard to effect. We yarded and offered under the hammer 32 horses, all classes, and succeeded in placing a few at prices satisfactory to vendors. Our quotations are : heavy draughts, young and sound, £l9los to £2O 10s ; light, young and aged, £6 7s Gd to £0 10s; hacks suitable for export, £l4 lOs to £ls ; weeds and aged horses almost unsaleable.
Messrs Guinness and LeCren report having held their usual weekly sale of horses at the Timaru Horse Bazaar on Saturday, when their entry comprised 28 head of all classes, conspicuous amongst them being Mr Morgan O’Brien’s string of 10 first- class draught mares and geldings. Owing in a great measure to the wet weather prevailing lately, and the consequent temporary suspension of outdoor farm work, competition at auction was not very lively. Notwithstanding this, however, they succeeeded in c 1 earing, both at Auct’on and privately, the whole of the draughts and most of the light horses entered. Mr O’Brien’s lot realised weUup to his expectations and other lots fully up to .owners’ values. They quote medium to good draughts at from £l6 to £23105, aged and inferior £6 to £10; hacks only a few entered, good sorts sold up to £l2 10s; light and w eedy £4 to £6.
