Oats are firm at 2s 9d. Prices will be better determined on the arrival of New Zealand shipments. Maize, 4s Gd to ss. Barley, Cape, 3s. Brau,-Bsd; pollard, Bd. Peas, Blue Prussian, 4s 2d. Potatoes, local, £4 5s to £4 los ; Circular Head, £G. Onions, Victorian, £3 10s to £3 15s. Butter, dairy-made, 5d to 6d; factorymade, nominally, 7d to Bd. Cheese, prime sorts, 4-Jd. Bacon, New Zealand prime cured, BA-d; hams, nominally, lOd to lid. Feb. IG. The wool market is firm, especially for greasy scoured, while washed wools are neglected. Current prices are : —Greasy, up to Bgd ; scoured, Is 4d to Is Gd. Meluoukne, Feb. 15. Wheat, 3s 2d. Flour, £7 to £7 17s Gd. Oats, Algerain, Is 8d; stout, 2s lid. Bran, B£d ; pollard, 9d.

The Government intend to ask Parliamentary authority to float a £1,000,000 loan to carry on public works. It is proposed to raise the money locally at 4J per cent, with 25 years’ currency. The mutton, ex Kaikoura, from New Zealand, is realising 4£d per lb. Her cheese is in good condition, and is selling at 545.

The Elderslie’s mutton shipped at Melbourne has arrived in good condition. At the wool sales medium greasy is slightly in buyers’ favor. Much colonial bought wool is withdrawn, speculation being slackThe wheat market is very flat. Feb. 15. At the wool sales there was brisk competition, but no change in prices. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 13,180,000 quarters, and for the Continent 504,000 quarters.
