DRUNKENNESS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —Residents in the township are this season to be annoyed, it appears, as usual, by the number of drunken men about the streets. This morning seven of them were tumbling about outside the various hotels, and between the township and traffic bridge ; two of them vomiting in the street. This is not one of the attractions which we can offer to tourists, surely. The most popular walk we have, namely, from the township to Opihi bridge, is likely to be spoilt for the next two months by the drunken, foulmouthed, swaggers, who are to be seen on it. We have two policemen stationed here, and I hope this letter will induce them to exercise their muscles by running in these publicans’ friends, and giving them free quarters for a time. —Yours, etc., » Nicodemus.
