THE MONETARY CONFEREENCE

Brussels, Nov. 26

It ig expected that England will submit to the Monetary Conference a plan for increasing the monetary use of silver by international agreements after the American proposals have been submitted. The latter country proposes the unrestricted coinage of gold and silver into money by full debt-paying PoAvers fixing the ratio in coinage between the tAVO metals, and establishing a uniform charge to the public for the coinage. Sir Charles Rivers "Wilson, one of the British delegates. supports the American proposals so far as the desirability of increasing the use of silver as a currency. France, Holland, Spain, and Mexico, support America, while Russia, Italy, Eoumania. Switzerland, and Greece, reserve their opinion for the present. On Monday Rothschilds will propose to enter into a State agreement for purchasing silver at a fixed price. Mr Turnbull, of Adelaide, has suggested to the president of the Conference that copper coinage should be abolished, and silver coin of small value be substituted.
