a Tho regular monthly meeting of the 8 above was held on Tuesday evening. Present-—Messrs W. Storey (chairman)* '• A. Russell, F. R. Oldfield, 0. Bates, 8 G. Levens, J. W, Salmond, T. F. Hooper, J and A. W. Surridge. Q CORRESPONDENCE. ■, Correspondence was read as follows i . From the Education Board, advising t that the inspector would visit the school . from Monday, 7th, to Friday following 7 for the purpose of holding the annual ) examination. 1 From the same, advising payment to 3 the credit of the committee of £ll 7s 6d t for incidentals for current quarter. From Mr B. H. Low, acting head , master, asking for supply of stationery i for examination.—Procured by the chair- ' [ man, whose action was approved. , From Mr P. W. Hutton, covering , notice that he had received stock of prize ■ books for ensuing season.—Received. 1 THE HEAD MASTER. ! The chairman read communication (already published) relative to the head master’s illness. After some consideration of the position Mr Russell moved—" That the committee record its sincere regret at the news of Mr Bryars’s ill health, and its hope that his aflliction may prove less serious than appears at present.”—Seconded by Mr Salmond, and carried unanimously. It was decided that the chairman be authorised to arrange with Mr Low relative to the carrying on of the school / until some further definite news is received. visitor’s report. The chairman reported having visited the school several times during the month, when the woyk appeared to be going on iu a satisfactory way. Messrs Salmond and Hooper were appointed visitors for the ensuing mouth. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £7 15s 3d were passed for payment. HOLIDAYS AND (’RISE’S. It was decided, after a conversational discussion, to hold a special meeting Ip about a fortnight to arrange for tho purchase of prizes, and also to confer with the head teachers as to the basis upon which they should bo awarded. The secretary stated that in response to his letter the Temuka Caledonian Society had voted a donation of £2 2s towards the prize fund. Mr Bates moved, Mr Surridge seconded, and it was carried—“ That the secretary convoy hearty thanks to the Caledonian Society for its donation,” Several suggestions were made as to the best way of raising funds for prizes, and it was eventually decided to leave it > to the secretary to canvass for a few subscriptions ip plape of attempting f.p hold another entertainment. Mr F. R. Oldfield kindly promised a donation of half-a-guinea, and was thanked for same. The meeting then terminated,
