Melbourne, Nov. 10. At the Presbyterian General Assembly, Mr McDonald, New Hebridean missionary, admitted there was nothing to complain of in the manner that Kanaka recruiting is carried out, or the treatment of islanders during their service in Queensland. He denied that the visit to Queensland did them any good permanently-, and if any mischief was afoot in. the Islands, the returned labourers were generally mixed up with it. Nov. 10. The five-mile bicycle championship was won by Becorabie; Sharp 2; Turner 8. It was a splendid race. Time—l4min B|-see. The land revenue for the last four months shows a deficit of £41,000 compared with the Treasurer's estimate for that period. Brisbane. Nov. 10.
