TEMUKA F & H. SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Temuka Floral and Horticultural Society was held last evening. Present—J. T. M. Hayhurst Esq. (President, in the chair), Messrs Brown, Dann, Herbert, Smith, and Epps. The secretary read over a list of special prizes promised, and additional ones were handed in by members present, which were considered very satisfactory. A sub-committee was appointed to arrange the prize schedule and report to the committee at an early date. A circular was read from the Minister of Agriculture, with regard to cool chambers for export. —It was decided to hand it over to the Dairy Company. The matters of cottage gardens, and a chrysanthemum show were under consideration. The society are anxious to do all it can to forward both. Judging from the special prize list, the society promises well in the future, and will bring about a good state of cultivation and show what can be done in the shape of fruit, flowers, and vegetables.
