London, Oct 12. Mr Sidney Buxton, Under-Secre-tary for the Colonies is consulting Mr W. B. Perceval, both as regards the labor laws in New Zealand, and as to Boards of Conciliation. Sydney, Oct. 12. The new Union at Broken Hill have issued a manifesto, accepting the scale of wages, and the number of hours work foreshadowed in the directors’ manifesto of August 16th. It also admits the right of owners to engage or discharge any person, and their right to let any work underground by private contract, at prices to be fixed by mutual consent, The Miners’ Union do not take the new Union seriously and regard it as an excuse for the men to go black-legging, Oct. Owing to refusal of the management to reinstate the dismissed employees, the West Wallsend engineers struck work, thus laying the mine idle. Melbourne, Oct. 13. The crew of the steamer Gabo has been called out owing to three men having been shipped through the agency of the Shipping Bureau. A fresh crew for the vessel has been shipped without difficulty.
