SUICIDE OF A GIRL,

A most detei mined suicide Was committed at Gisborne on Wednesday night, when a girl of seventeen, named Louisa Solomon, poisoned herself with strychnine. She had complained of pains in her head and legs, find t°ld a sister, aged 12, she was going to a chemist’s for strychnine. The girl’s father became very excited on hearing of’, Ms daughter’s death, and was arrested on " s charge of attempting suicide, At the inquest on, tpa body of the girl, Solorapu, the jury returned a verdict that she poinmitted suicide whilst of unsound mind, adding as a rider that greater care should be taken in the sale' of poison. The father of the girl, who was brought qp before the Resident Magistrate, an d charged with attempted suicide, was discharged, and pu the recommendation of the police! a prohibition order for twelve months was granted against him.
