London, Sept. 2. The tailors' strike in the provinces is collapsing.
Sept. 3,
Serious riots have taken place in the salt district in Cheshire, owing to the Unionists refusing to work with tree men. The military assisted the police in restoring order. Auckland, Sept. 3.
At a meeting of the Tailoresses' Union a resolution was carried that the members would loyally support the union and the action of its officers if arbitration failed on the apprentice question. It was suggested that a cooperative factory should be started, which would receire the support of the Trades Unions and the Knights of Labour ; also, that the importation of made-up girls' and-women's underclothing should be stopped, and the making up of such articles in the colony would give employment to a large number of women.
