The Pittsburg strikers have decided that a deputation of men from the ranks shall wait on Mr Carnegie, in Scotland. The Weir ship-builders have given notice of a 10 per cent, reduction in wages. Washington, July 20. The leaders of the Ihaho stirkers are making their escape. Carnegie's men have refused to resume work with non-nionists. The strike has already cost a million dollars. The leaders of the strike will be charged with murder. Sydney, July 20. There is a general feeling that the mine owners of Broken Hill will employ free labor at the end of the month. Melbourne, July 20. Knox directors are firm in their decision not to yield to the men, and it is believed that they intend to work the mines on the contract system after the 27th inst. Auclkand, July 21. At a meeting of the Auckland Employers' Association the Property Law Consolidation Act Amendment Bill was approved of by a majority of the members. A sub-committee was appointed to report on the Workmen's Lien Bill. The Eight Honrs Bill was condemned as prejudicial to workmen living on weekly wages, and it was stated that if the Bill passed hundreds of office lads would be thrown out of work. An amendment was suggested in the Employers' Liability Bill, requiring notice being given to the employers before they can be made liable in certain cases.
