The Overseer's report was as follows ;—, <' Owing to tl]e wot weather and otheii causes the works in hand have made but slow progreas. Contracts No. 3SO : Shingle Repairs to Geraldine Road ; No. 353: Formation, etc., Gilbert's Road, Japes's Valley; and No. 354: Markham's Road, Cooper's Creek, have been completed since last meeting. Nos. 355, 350, and 357 are making fair progress at present, and, should the weather keep fine, ought to be completed in the contract time. Kakahu Ford—A now cutting and ford have been made at this crossing and are now open for traffic. Templer's Ford —As authorised, I have had a stop bank erected and channel cut to divert the stream so as to prevent the llood water coming down the road. Rtuigitqta Plaji^

—The line of road across the plains has been marked off, and tenders invited to make a passable track. I find the road is fenced across for a few chains at the end next the station. This will cause a slight detour to be made unless the board decide to take down the fences. The new line will be much better than the old track, which does not follow the surveyed line of road. Boundary Road, Tinwood Creeks —On examining this place I find the water has been diverted from the natural outlets so as to send it down the Mill Race. Owing to the heavy rain and the springs being high this caused the road to be fl 10-led with water; the latter has been partly let off by easing one of the drains. The road is, however, still very soft and wet. Works Required, etc.—The road on the north side of the Orari between the river and Seaward's corner is very much cut up and requires to be formed, also a short length between Kelman's sections further up the flat. The road from Seaward's to S. Ellery's would be the better of a light coat of shingle. Jones's Gully Road—This road requires shingle repairs between the Kakahu Saddle- and the Opihi River. Poisoned Wheat—As directed I have obtained four bushels of Powell's Longbeach wheat, and issued a portion to ratepayers. I have not yet heard the result. Accounts —The Government Auditor was here on the 15th inst., and examined the accounts. The balance-sheet has been forwarded to Wellington.—l have, etc., " Wm. Shiees, "Overseer." The report was considered satisfactory, and it was agreed to go on with the works on road near Seaward's corner, and the road 9 near Kelman's and S. Ellery's. Other works were held over till next meeting of the board. FIXED DEPOSITS. It was resolved—" That the sum of £SOO, fixed deposit falling due at the Bank of New South Wales on the 16th July, be placed to the board's current account at the same bank, with interest accrued." It was resolved—" That the sum of £3OOO, fixed deposit falling due at the Bank of New Zealand on the 21st July, be redeposited for a period of 12 months with the same bank, the interest accrued to be placed at the board's current account at the Bank of New South Wales." It was carried—" That the sum of £SOO fixed deposit falling due at the Bank of New Zealand on the 21st July, be redeposited for a further period of 12 months, at the same Bank at current rates ; the interest accrued to be placed to current account at the Bank of New South Wales." It was agreed that the sum of £3OOO, fixed deposit falling due at the Bank of New South Wales on the 16th July, be placed on fixed deposit with the same Bank for a period of 12 months at current rates; the interest accrued to be placed to current amount. r AY-SHEET; The pay-sheet amounted to £250 8s 2d. The Board then rose.
