THE HOME ELECTIONS.
London, July 7. The Liberals gain Limehouse (Wallace) Bow and Bromley Division of Tower Hamlets (McDonald), North Camberwell (Bayley). The former members were reelected for Whitechapel, Stepney, Mile End, Poplar, Brightside, Hallam, Dulwich, Dewsbury, Sheffield, Tottenham, Fulham, Central Division of Kingston-on-Hull, Eccleshall, East Leeds, Astercliff, and South Leeds. Liberals gain Kensington (Mr Fry), the East Division of Kingston - on - Hull (Mr Smith). Former members re-elected for Lewisham, Leeds, Central Leeds, Cardiff, West division of Kingston - on - Hull—South Shields, Montrose, Ealing, (Lord George Hamilton's majority being 3435). Mr Ponbury, a Tory, was elected for Peckham. Mr Herbert Gladstone has been elected for Leeds West by a majority of 353. It was William Redmond, not John, who was defeated for Cork city. Freeman's Journal states that Australia and America have each forwarded £SOOO to the McCarthy party. July 9.
Mr Hammond, who headed the poll at Newcastle, is said to have owed his election to pot-house influence, as he is interested in no less than seven hundred public-houses scattered over England. Mr Carvell, Nationalist, is elected for the borough of Newry. Mr Bean, Home Ruler, defeated the Right Hon. C. T. Ritchie, President of the Local Government Board, and a member of the Cabinet, at Tower Hamlets, by a majority of 398. Lord A. W. Hill, Conservative, is returned for West Devonshire. Sir R. Hanson and Mr H. H. Gibbs were reelected for the City of London. Mr H. L. Mullhollaiid and Mr J. B. Bolitho were re-elected unopposed for North Londonderry and St. Ives. The former members were also re-elected for the Berwick division of North Cumberland, Denbeigh, Eastern Fife, Southern Dorset, Dudley, West Aberdeen, Horncastle, Sleaford, and Wirral (Cheshire). The Liberals have gained the Chesterton division of Cambridge (Mr Hoare) and Crickdale. Mr Hubbard Ross (Conservative), beai Mr Justin McCarthy at Londonderry by 26. The Liberals gain Monmouth (Mr Spicer). Up to date 891,572 votes have been recorded for opponents of Home Rule, 913,525 for Home Rulers, and 24,573 for Labor candidates.
Returns to date give the Conservatives 141, Unionists 19, Home Rulers 117, and Nationalists 11.
Mr Hood (Conservative) is elected for Wellington, and Mr Mitford (Conservative) for Stratford. Mr Field (Parnellite) has been elected for St. Patrick's, Dublin, and Dr Kenny (Parnellite) for College Green, Dublin. The Nationalists gain East Wicklow, where Mr Sweetman was elected. The former members are re-elected for Uxbridge (Middlesex), Northampton, North Western Durham, Peebles and Selkirk, Wimbledon, Dublin, Galloway, Tamworth, Tewkesbury, and Penrith. The Tories gain the St. Stephen's division of Dublin, Mr W. Kenny beating Mr Mead by 25, and Montgomery (Mr Pryce Jones), The Liberals gain Pembroke and Haverford West (Mr Allan), and Somerset (Mr C. Warner). The Tories gain South Dublin (Hon. D. Plunkett). I'he former members are returned for Limerick City and North Kent. The Hon. R. O'Neill (Conservative), J. F. O'Brien, and J. F. Fox (Nationalists), are re-elected unopposek. Mr Gladstone has issued a circular stating that the Liberals are losing seats to the Tories owing to the intrusion of bogus labor candidates. The former members have been reelected for Govan, Partick, Stirling, Deptford, Elland, Bootle, Eye (Suffolk), Newport (Shrewsbury), Ripon (Yorkshire), Clitheroe, East Donegal, Blackpool (Lancashire), Leith, Isle of Wight, Osgoldcross (Yorkshire), Kircudbrighshire, South Division of Glamorganshire, Bernard Castle, Eastern Division of Denbigh, Kilmarnock, Lancaster, Holderness, Prestwych, Wycombe, East Grinstead Division of Sussex, West Mayo, Elgin, South-west Meath- The following Tories have been elected: Dublin University (Messrs Plunkett and Carson), Kendall (Bagot), Reigate Division of Surrey (HeencUhill), Tunbridge (Boscawen), Thirsk (John Lawson). The following have been returned unopposed : South Cork (Edward • Barry (Nationalist), North Down (Warring), Chertsey Division of Surrey (Combe), West Kerry (Sir T. Esmonde), North Roscommon (Podkin, a Nationalist; Mr O'KeUy was former membgr), July 10.
Mr James McAlmont lias been reelected unopposed for Antrim East. The former members have been re-elected for Crowe and St. Andrews. Mr Bryce, a Tory, has been elected for Walthamstown. The Liberals have elected the following members :—Ross and Crqmartie (Weir), Tyneside (J. A. Pease), Flintburghs (Lewis), Swansea Town (Burnie), Carmarthenshire (Jones), Armagh South (McHugh, a Nationalist). Mr P. McDermott has been re-elected for Kilkenny North.
In the elections the Liberal gains are 50.
